Robert Mills, the first general stage manager of Mad Apple, Cirque du Soleil’s newest show in Las Vegas, performing ten shows a week at the New York, New York Hotel and Casino. One of a handful of stage managers to have opened a resident Cirque du Soleil production on the Las Vegas Strip, he successfully helped lead the company through an intense ten-week creation period and into daily operations. Prior to this Vegas residency, Robert stage managed extensively on international productions whose travel allowed him to fully circumnavigate the globe three times! These works include the Australian tour of Absinthe; international tour stops of The Illusionists 1903 and The Illusionists: Direct from Broadway; a residency in Doha under the request of the Emir to present live performances in public spaces; the resident Dragone production of The House of Dancing Water in Macau; the Asian and Middle East tour of Hal Prince’s The Phantom of the Opera; creating, installing, and operating shows on four stages at the Diriyah Season in Saudi Arabia; and most recently building and overseeing the day time operations of the Al Wasl stages at World Expo 2020 Dubai. His extensive background along with a passion for travel and touring have allowed him to experience various working conditions that often present challenges (language, skilled/un- skilled labor, equipment/supplies/tools access and availability) which drive his box-less problem solving skills. He is an active member and global ambassador of The Stage Managers’ Association and an AEA member.
