Ebony Madry
Brite Ideas
Lighting Designer & Project Manager
Ebony Madry currently works for Brite Ideas CTS as a lighting designer and project manager, overseeing the installation of audio, video, and lighting for corporate and exclusive events. Ebony has also expanded their freelance work into concerts with other prominent companies.
Ebony is a graduate from the University of California, Irvine with an MFA in Lighting Design, and also received an BFA in Design from Texas Tech University. Additionally, she worked as an electrics assistant for The Arkansas Repertory Theater for their 2013-2014 season. Ebony has returned to both UC, Irvine and Texas Tech as a visiting professor for lighting design. Ebony began working in the theater as early as high school, after falling in love with Broadway Tours like
The Wiz,
The
Color Purple, and
The Lion King. It is these experiences that has led to Ebony truly understanding that representation of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) is invaluable. Therefore, Ebony likes to dedicate as much of their energy and time collaborating with artists, designers, and productions that feature and uplift those populations. In addition to her work on diverse shows, Ebony actively mentors other female BIPOC students and has served on the diversity panel for the Queer People of Color Festival at UC, Irvine.
Ebony is overjoyed to return to LDI as a speaker and moderator.
